If pop were a city, JAB would cruise through it on a vintage Solex, headphones on and guitar slung over his shoulder. With his new track “Allume le Solex”, the artist injects a healthy dose of rock into his colorful pop sound, making the road thrum like a perfectly pitched riff through an amp turned up too loud. Over production by SMAZ, the verses unfold with flair, balancing melodic lightness with electric tension, while JAB’s voice whispers a punchline that will stay with us for quite some time: “You tell yourself it’ll work out, but you stay right where you are.” Directed by the duo Paul-Henri Sabarly and Benoît Aubert, the video is a cinematic pop excursion through a gas station frozen in time—a quirky tribute to relationships that never get started again. It is in Nice, between the sea and the asphalt, that this unconventional musical rider continues to forge his own path. And by the time he reaches the finish line, the engines are well and truly warmed up.

JAB on the Rise, Between Retro Punk and Future Pop
Before becoming the king of the Solex 2.0, JAB forged his own path against the current. He was a guitarist, a singer and then a beatmaker; he formed a band, explored the live circuit and experienced life in a collective before going solo. This musical jack-of-all-trades cites Gorillaz, Phoenix and Childish Gambino among his influences, so it is no surprise that he delivers tracks that are both stylish and genre-blurring. After an EP and several sharply crafted singles, he is now confirming his growing momentum. A new project is in the works, and “Allume le Solex” appears to be its first spark. And if you want to experience his raw energy, his live session and YouTube interview are essential viewing.
The engine is running, and JAB clearly has no intention of switching it off anytime soon
